Board of Directors

The current Board of Directors was elected for a five-year term at the General Meeting on October 4, 2022. We are happy to assist with project ideas, questions, and feedback

Tim Tartler

First Chairman, Doctor

Tim (b. 1996) first visited Liuli in 2019 and has since made supporting the local community and hospital his priority. He completed a year of research for his doctoral thesis in the U.S. and gained work experience in Germany, Switzerland, South Africa, Australia, and Indonesia. Tim plans to visit Liuli again in summer 2023 to advance ongoing projects before beginning his specialist training in anesthesiology and emergency medicine. In addition to leading the board, Tim focuses on recruiting healthcare professionals, students, and corporate sponsors to improve healthcare services around Lake Malawi.

Nicole Breuer

Second Chairwoman, Midwife, and Contact Person for Midwives

I have already been to Liuli twice. The first time I was there alone at the beginning of 2021 to get an impression of the country and Liuli. I liked it there so much that I traveled to Liuli a second time at the end of 2021 with my husband and our 3 children (11, 9, 6 years old). We had the opportunity to spend 3 months in Tanzania, including 2 months in Liuli. It is a dream spot on the world map. I am a midwife and a pediatric nurse. I worked as a volunteer in Liuli. The hospital is in Tanzanian condition - visually, as well as the way it works, really worth an experience. The locals give us an insight into a different culture and its traditions. We can learn something from their serenity. I returned to my orderly and clean everyday life with many new impressions and, above all, reflections on my routine actions.

Since October 2022, I have been able to support the hospital in Liuli from afar through my involvement in the Friends of St Anne's association.

Felix Melchior

Chief Financial Officer, Doctor

Chief Financial Officer, doctor In 2022, it was probably rather spontaneous that I ended up in Liuli with two fellow student friends as part of a clinical traineeship. Together, we experienced the challenges of everyday hospital life in rural Tanzania, which is unfortunately chronically underserved. However, we also got to know the outstanding hospitality and way of life of the people of Liuli, which I still look back on fondly today. Last but not least, the friendships we made there led me to get involved with Friends of St. Anne's e. V. There is always something to do - old construction sites and new ideas that need to be implemented. As part of a highly motivated board team, I look forward to initiating new projects and implementing ideas on site. As treasurer, I also take care of the organizational matters of the association. After I finish my studies in 2023, I plan to support the hospital on site once again. Maybe we'll see each other again in Liuli!
