The Doctors House may be one of Liuli's most beautiful buildings, but we noticed that it was in need of renovation during our visit in summer 2023. It is essential that the house is in good condition if we are to continue sending volunteers to Liuli and thus maintain the all-important professional and cultural exchange. We replaced worn-out mattresses and holey mosquito nets, bought a functioning cistern for the toilet, exchanged sparkling lamps for bright ones, oiled squeaky doors and bought cleaning products and cooking utensils for the housekeeper Monika. We also added another bedroom to the Doctors House, including a bed made especially for us, increasing the current capacity to up to seven people. Two new chairs for the dining table were also added at the same time. An urgently needed “spring clean” and a paint job were also carried out.
