Dental Unit (2023)

Dental care in Liuli had been virtually non-existent until recently. The standard procedure was simply to pull out broken teeth, leading to consequential diseases such as malnutrition, abscesses, blood poisoning, and heart and vascular issues. In late 2022, the Tanzanian government provided St. Anne's Hospital with a Dental Therapist . However, she remained unemployed initially due to the absence of dental equipment in Liuli. Recognizing the urgent need for proper dental care, the Bishop of Ruvuma and the Hospital Secretary brought this situation to our attention. We planned to invest in a complete Dental unit, and our application to the apobank foundation foundation was successful, allowing us to cover almost all expenses through their funding. As a result, the Dental unit has been operational since early 2023, enabling patients with dental problems to receive treatment directly in Liuli.
